With regulations requiring adequate asbestos awareness and/or management training for all those who might come into contact with asbestos and/or with a duty to manage it, the temptation to outsource such training is becoming stronger. Often, though, the problem with outsourcing is that “off the shelf” training packages are frequently inadequate and can fail to address the specific issues of concern to the client.

Asbestos Consultants to the Environment, part of the AcePSI Group, are full members of the UK Asbestos Training Providers Association (UKATA) and are listed by the BOHS as a course provider for all their asbestos modules. Our Asbestos Training Division has been established to provide the following courses, the syllabi for which are prescribed in legislation and published guidance by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE):

Technical Training for Asbestos Workers

Our Asbestos Training Division has been established to provide the following courses, the syllabi for which are prescribed in legislation and published guidance by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE):

  • Initial and refresher training for licensed asbestos removal operatives, supervisors and managers.
  • Initial and refresher training for ancillary licence holders (e.g. scaffolders).
  • Initial and refresher training for unlicensed contractors and maintenance staff carrying out minor works with asbestos.
  • Asbestos awareness and management training.
  • Courses in asbestos following the British Occupational Hygiene Society syllabi (P401 to P406, and S301) leading to BOHS examinations.

British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) Certified Courses in Asbestos

Occupational hygiene has been described as the anticipation and identification of health hazards arising within the occupational environment and the evaluation, assessment and control of the risks to health arising out of such hazards.

AcePSI’s Occupational Hygiene division, which encompasses both occupational hygiene and ergonomics services, is under the direction and guidance of an experienced occupational and environmental hygienist, with a background ranging from the often extreme environmental conditions encountered within deep-level metalliferous mines, collieries, ore-processing plants and precious metals refineries to the evaluation and maintenance of acceptable indoor air quality standards within general offices.

Our occupational hygiene reports are written in plain English and aim to answer fully the question(s) raised at the beginning of the study whilst satisfying the technical reader that the work was conducted properly and that the appropriate conclusions were reached. A typical report would be divided into the following main sections:

  • Title page

  • Introduction and background
  • Process description
  • Methods and measurements employed
  • Summary of results and discussion
  • Conclusions and recommendations
  • Appendices

Asbestos Awareness Training Courses

With the Control of Asbestos Regulations requiring adequate asbestos awareness and/or management training for all those who might come into contact with asbestos and/or with a duty to manage it, the temptation to outsource such training is becoming stronger. Often, though, the problem with outsourcing is that “off the shelf” training packages are frequently inadequate and can fail to address the specific issues of concern to the client.

Here at AcePSI we not only appreciate the importance in understanding the hazards of asbestos but the importance in educating people to those hazards. AcePSI’s training is flexible and like a lot of our courses can be customised to suit individual needs. Courses can be designed for delivery to tradesmen through to building managers, surveyors and architects and each course will address the general and local issues important to the target audience.

Certificate of Achievement

At the end of all our Asbestos Awareness and Management courses a short, multiple-choice question-styled test is set to ensure that course participants have understood the information presented to them. Those passing the test receive a Certificate of Achievement.

Health and Safety Training Courses

There are certain health and safety risks in the office that can lead to ill health, injuries and accidents. Office workers are exposed to a number of risks such as working with Display Screen Equipment, Manual Handling and injuries due to slipping, tripping and falling. Carelessness and neglect cause the majority of office accidents and ill health, and AcePSI‘s Office Health and Safety training courses provide you with the means to deliver consistent training across your organisation against such instances.

Office Health and Safety training is a graphical and menu driven training course, designed with close consideration to the guidance on the Regulations by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The course is fully customisable and therefore can be tailored to reflect the exact requirements, terminology and corporate image of your organisation.
