Sampling and Analysis

There are a number of reasons why asbestos sampling may be required. This could include such reasons as the identification of a source of contamination, assessment of personal exposure, determination of background levels or to check the efficiency and effectiveness of control measures.

It is important to remember however that sampling any materials suspected of containing asbestos can give rise to exposure to asbestos. Regulation 6 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 requires that a risk assessment be undertaken and Regulation 7 requires that a Plan of Work be produced prior to any work with asbestos.
