19 Apr - Thames Valley University site shuts over asbestos fears

Monday, 19 Apr 2010

A university in Berkshire has temporarily closed one of its sites while it investigates the possible presence of asbestos.

Thames Valley University (TVU) has suspended teaching at its Crescent Road campus in Reading until 26 April.

Preliminary survey work was carried out and the university was told there was a possible asbestos risk.

Many services, including evening classes, have been moved to the university's Kings Road site.

Students due to hand in assignments should hand them in at Kings Road.

The university will also contact parents of children who go to a nursery at Crescent Road to discuss alternative options.
